Stories
Every person carries a world within them.

These photographs come from encounters, journeys, shared afternoons and moments I sometimes hadn't even given a name to.
There are families who let me into their lives for a few hours, people met on the street, artists absorbed in their work and places that keep coming back to me.
They aren't all the same stories, and I don't want them to be.
What connects them is the way I look: searching for what happens between people, in spontaneous gestures, in small things and in moments that often go unnoticed.
Some images are in black and white, others in colour. Every photograph is a choice, an attempt to get closer to something worth holding on to.
These are some of the worlds I've been allowed to enter.

alessandrastabili.comBlack and white, in colour. Always through my eyes.
Black and white is an important part of the way I photograph. I love how it draws attention to a gesture, an expression, a distance or a closeness.
But there are moments when colour tells something I wouldn't want to lose: the light of an afternoon, the clothes chosen for an occasion, the tones of a place, a detail that belongs only to that memory.
I don't want every photograph to speak the same language.
I choose black and white or colour depending on what I feel tells each image best.
For me, what matters isn't whether a photograph is in colour or in black and white. It's that, when you look at it again, you can find something of that moment.
